The effect of the amount of leveling agent on the properties of the coating film

The leveling agent can change the surface tension between the coating and the substrate to improve the lubricity and make the surface of the coating smooth and shiny. When the amount of leveling agent is 0.5g and 1.2g, the surface of the coating film has defects such as wrinkling and shrinkage, and the best appearance performance can only be obtained when the leveling agent is 2.0g.

In order to improve the appearance performance of coatings, consideration should be given to:

* Adjust the solvent evaporation rate, reduce the viscosity, improve the fluidity of the paint, and prolong the leveling time.
* Form an extremely thin monomolecular layer on the surface of the coating film to provide uniform surface tension. The test results show that insufficient leveling agent will cause defects such as wrinkling, shrinkage cavity and pitting on the surface of the coating film. Only by adding an appropriate amount of leveling agent can the coating film be smooth and even.
* Reduce the surface tension between the coating and the substrate, so that the coating and the substrate have good wettability, and do not form a surface tension gradient with the substance that causes shrinkage on the substrate.
